On Wednesday 13 March the OIBA County Indoor finals moved onto City & County where the Australian final 2023 -2024 was played. The final was contested by a team from Carterton: Andy McIntyre and Will Parker versus a team from Chipping Norton: Mick Boobyer and Chris Charles. Carterton were away from their own green however that did not affect them as Andy and Will stormed into 14 – 0 lead after 6 ends despite Mick & Chris playing well. Mick & Chris started to pull back to 19 - 6 after 11 ends although Will in his normal way attempted to spread all the woods over all six rinks with his firing. The next five ends Mick and Chris scored one and at 16 ends they were 23 – 7 down and decided enough was enough. The result did not reflect the overall play as all four players played well. The match was well supported by members from Chipping Norton. Well done Andy McIntyre and Will Parker on winning the first OIBA 2023-2024 County Indoor Australian Pairs and commiserations to Mick Boobyer and Chris Charles. Being a new competition and the fact that the prizes and cup were donated by Mick Andrew I bestowed the honours on Mick to present them. The winners Andy McIntyre and Will Parker won the Cup, individual trophy and OIBA glass plus £100 each. Mick Boobyer and Chris Charles received individual runners up trophy and OIBA glass plus £25 each. The prizes including the money prizes were donated by Mick Andrew who the OIBA and competitors owe a great deal of thanks for his generosity, thank you Mick.
